Give us an overview of your current role & what you enjoy doing for your company? I am senior director of product marketing for identity, fraud and compliance solutions at Equifax. My primary focus is delivering go-to-marketing product strategies that align with buyers’ journey for innovative omni-channel solutions. The solutions leverage the extensive Equifax and partner data ecosystems to help improve identity authentication, customer acquisition, retention and channel profitability for business clients and the end consumer user experience.

What was your first job ever and what was the takeaway from that experience? My first job after college was at United Parcel Services Corporate office. I was responsible for the infamous weekly time-in-transit and missed picked up reports. No pressure, right!?!  I learned the value of personal accountability, acquired an appreciation of chain of command and refined my time management skills.

What’s been the most significant contribution you’ve had for your company to get to the success you have today? My direct manager and leader - All achievements begin with strategy and critical thinking that enables our team to deliver successful programs and campaigns. This impetus, from my manager, has empowered the momentum for our YOY team accomplishments!  My manager’s leadership advice, objectivity and continuous support set her apart from other managers and this style empowers our team to be successful. 

What process have you taken that has been the vehicle to the success of your professional journey? Our society, both within our personal and professional lives, is based on a culture that doesn’t tolerate failure. However, failure is a vital element for continuous growth and innovation. Learn to fail faster! By embracing faster failures, one can achieve a desired result sooner than perfecting the solution. It has been a journey for me to recognize when to fail faster. 

Looking back, you’ve had mentors that have shifted the direction of your professional career, who have been the most memorable mentors that consistently pushed you and why? See above 

With your current role, what was it that inspired you to push harder & what are your strategies to achieve them? The strategy for achievement starts with building an actual strategic plan, tactics plans with milestones, and task owners. I am inspired when my marketing program or campaign comes to life and I am able to use reporting metrics and insights to gage success and demonstrate impact to help meet business objectives. 

How do you face challenges and how do you overcome them? Retail therapy has typically helped in the past. “When I shop, the world gets better, and the world is better, but then it's not, and I need to do it again. (Confessions of a Shopaholic-the movie)”

Gypsy Kitchen draws inspiration from the culinary riches of Spain - infused with Moroccan traditions from across the Gibraltar and Indian influences that travelled west along the same seas. Centuries of interplay between these food traditions and lands inspires our Iberian fusion plates.

What has been your rule of thumb in terms of arriving at resolutions that will work for the team?  I try to be an active listener to hear what is being said vs. a passive listener that focuses only on how to respond. 

 If you were to mentor your younger self, what advice would you give? The loudest person in the room is not always the ultimate decision maker. Align yourself with the decision maker and their influencers.

In your personal experience, what is the fundamental key to success? Stay focused and avoid the constant swirl of information overload. If I cannot change or influence change, I [try to] move on. 

What do you know now that you wish you knew then? Travel more and more frequently… Get out of your myopic world and expose yourself to new places, people and cultures. I have developed a wider world view and my global travel adventures have helped me open my mind. Meeting people from other places will show you that your world view isn't the same as everyone else's.
